About Workshop
Why do we protect ourselves from the very closeness we long for? This session explores the intersection between Enneagram types and attachment styles”revealing how our patterns of connection and defense are shaped by both temperament and early experience. Drawing from neuroaffective psychology, narrative identity, and Martin Buberâ’s “Thou philosophy, we explore how each type seeks contact”and how it subtly defends against vulnerability.
With real-life examples and psychological insight, Helen and Helena show how type and attachment can be understood as complementary lenses. Their work opens a path toward deeper presence and more secure relationships – in relation with yourself and in relation with the people around you. Inspired by the Circle of Security and the Enneagram’s inner lines, we will map routes toward greater security and presence in the relational field. Expect clarity, compassion, and practical tools to take with you.
About Speaker
Helen Hvalsø Nielsen and Helena Protopapas are psychotherapists, teachers, and supervisors with over 20 years of experience. As co-owners of Danmarks Enneagramskole, they offer a psychotherapy training grounded in the Enneagram, attachment theory, somatic psychology, and existential spirituality. Deeply inspired by Martin Buber’s I–Thou philosophy, they see the Enneagram not as a typology, but as a living path toward relational presence and inner freedom. With compassion, clarity, and embodied wisdom, they guide students and clients toward transformation, integration, and authentic connection.
